2013 U.S. Open live streaming: How to watch Friday's round online

Rob Carr

It's going to be a busy day at Merion Golf Club on Friday and viewers will be able to watch some of the action online and on their mobile devices.

The 2013 U.S. Open viewers are able to follow Friday's two featured groups via online and mobile streams. After a long and wet day on Thursday, it's shaping up to be another full day at the Merion Golf Club on Friday, as roughly half the field will hit the course at 7:15 a.m. ET to finish their first round. The start of the second round will be delayed, then, but the same streaming options will be available.

Tiger Woods headlines the first marquee group of the second round and, depending how he finishes his first round, he may be playing to make the cut. Woods got off to a slow start on Thursday and is 2-over through ten holes. As he did on Thursday, Woods will play with Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott for 26 more holes on Friday. They were originally scheduled to tee off at 7:44 a.m. on Friday, but their second-round tee time is now tentatively scheduled for 10:44 a.m -- giving the threesome about an hour break in between rounds.

The second marquee group of the day will feature Thursday's clubhouse leader, as Phil Mickelson attempts to follow up his 3-under 67 with another red-numbered round at tricky Merion. Mickelson will play with Steve Stricker and Keegan Bradley in the second marquee pairing. Stricker struggled over his final nine holes on Thursday, finishing with a 1-over 71 while Bradley had a nightmarish first round and opens Friday at 7-over. The group is scheduled to tee off at 3:41 p.m.

In addition to the two marquee group streams offered by USOpen.com, ESPN and NBC-Golf Channel will also provide their own online streams for additional coverage. ESPN will have a stream dedicated to two of the iconic holes at Merion, No. 11 and No. 18, beginning at 8:30 a.m. They will also have a simulcast stream of their TV broadcast available at 8:30 a.m. and that will run until they hand coverage over to NBC at 3 p.m. The NBC Live Extra stream will then take over the online simulcast coverage before handing things back to ESPN3.com at 5 p.m. for the rest of the day's golf.

Viewers will also have multiple options to watch the streams from USOpen.com. Those using a computer will be able to watch the marquee group streams on USOpen.com. Viewers using Apple or Android mobile devices can watch the streams by downloading the official U.S. Open app. The app, which is available for iPad, iPhone and Android devices, includes live streaming video of the marquee groups as well as scorecards, statistics and other features. The U.S. Open applications are available in the iTunes and Google Play stores.
