U.S. Open 2013 leaderboard: Phil Mickelson leads by 1 through 6 holes

Andy Lyons

Despite an opening bogey, Phil Mickelson is still leading the U.S. Open and is one of three players under par.

Phil Mickelson hasn't been as sharp on Friday as he was on Thursday, but he's managed to mitigate trouble and still holds the lead at 2-under.

Mickelson began the day at 3-under but dropped a shot with a three-putt bogey at No. 1. He's found trouble on a few more holes but recovered each time and is 1-over on the round through six holes. Despite the three-putt to open the round, Mickelson has putted well since, including a couple of par saves.

At 2-under, Mickelson is one stroke ahead of Justin Rose and Billy Horschel, the only other two players under par. Horschel hit all 18 greens on his way to a 3-under 67, while Rose is 2-under through five holes on Friday. Rose opened the second round with back-to-back birdies and has made three straight pars since.

A few notable names have managed to stay in contention thanks to even-par rounds on Friday, including Bubba Watson and Ian Poulter. Watson is 1-over for the tournament, but even through six holes. Watson is yet to card anything other than a par. Poulter is also 1-over overall and even-par on his round through three holes.

Rickie Fowler was two strokes off the lead, but a double bogey on No. 3 dropped him to 2-over for the tournament and four strokes back. Here is a look at the leaderboard including a few notable names.
