AT&T National 2013 scores: Roberto Castro leads in Bethesda

Roberto Castro leads a Tiger Woods-less field after Day 1 of the 2013 AT&T National.

Roberto Castro leads the watered-down field at the 2013 AT&T National after the first round Thursday. He shot a 5-under 66 on Thursday to take a two-stroke lead over three players -- Billy Horschel, Bud Cauley and Graham DeLaet -- heading into Friday. Castro was just 1-under through his first nine holes (he started on the 10th hole) but recorded four birdies on the front nine to finish strong.

Before the start of the tournament, three of the event's biggest names -- Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose -- were forced to withdraw due to various reasons. There was still some star power left in Masters champion Adam Scott, fellow Aussie Jason Day, and American Hunter Mahan, though all three golfers have some work to do. Scott is tied for 60th at 2-over, Day is tied for 13th at 1-under, and Mahan is tied for 101st at 4-over.

Brandt Snedeker, currently ranked No. 8 in the world on the Official World Golf Ranking, and 2010 PGA Player of the Year Jim Furyk are sitting just three strokes back of Castro at 2-under.
