Round 1 of the 2013 St. Jude Classic is set to tee off Thursday morning. The likes of Phil Mickelson, Brandt Snedeker and defending-champion Dustin Johnson will be getting their final tuneups before the U.S. Open next week. Thursday's coverage will be shown live on the Golf Channel from 3-6 p.m. ET. Those stuck to their computers can watch the simulcast online by going to PGATour.com and launching the Golf Channel video player.
You can check out full coverage of the action from Memphis, including tee times, at SB Nation's hub for the 2013 St. Jude Classic. Emily Kay previewed the tournament, and detailed Johnson's need for a big bounce back performance.
As for Johnson, the big-hitting 28-year-old got off to a hot start, winning the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions. He withdrew from the Sony Open with the flu but posted three consecutive top-15 starts, including a T4 at the Shell Houston Open and a T13 at the Masters.
Ranked 19th in men's golf, Johnson enters the week as he did last year -- battling back problems. Coming off a missed cut at the Memorial, Paulina Gretzky's main squeeze has squeezed in just three rounds under pressure since Augusta in April.
Five of the top 30 players in the world will take to the links at TPC Southwind, setting up what should be an intriguing weekend of golf.
