Rob Carr

The British Open begins on Thursday and you can watch most of the action live ... if you're willing to sacrifice some sleep.

Scotland will be the center of the golf universe this week when 156 of the best players in the world compete for the 2013 British Open title. Although the action will be going on halfway around the world, viewers in the United States will still be able to watch most of the tournament live, if they are willing to forgo some sleep.

ESPN and ABC will combine to broadcast more than 65 hours of coverage, including 37 hours of live coverage. There will also be replays, extensive highlight shows and a special one-hour episode of SportsCenter at The Open Championship. Viewers on the East coast who want to watch the tournament unfold live will need to wake up early with television coverage beginning at 4 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. on Sunday.

In addition to the extensive television coverage, viewers will be able to follow the action via online streams, on the radio and even watch on their tablet or mobile device. ESPN Radio will be the home for radio coverage, with six hours of live broadcast scheduled for each round.

Viewers will have multiple options for watching online and on mobile devices. ESPN3 will provide a live streams of the first and 18th hole with an additional stream for coverage of holes No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9.
