British Open 2013 leaderboard: Tiger Woods struggling early, Ian Poulter charging

Rob Carr

The leaders are on the course and things have not started well for Tiger Woods. Lee Westwood is still in the lead at 2-under.

The final round of the British Open is in full swing with the final groups now making their way about the front nine at Muirfield. Tiger Woods opened the day at 1-under, but he's now even after an early bogey.

Woods is having issues on the greens early as they are playing significantly slower than they did during the first two rounds. His approach shot on No. 1 came up well short, leaving him a long birdie putt from the front edge. His lag putt came up about five feet short. His par save didn't have enough pace and it broke wide of the cup, leading to an early bogey.

Woods was able to save par on each of the next two holes, including a nice saving putt on No. 3. He's even-par with 15 holes to play, two strokes behind Lee Westwood.

Westwood has also had some issues early, dropping a shot at No. 3. He hit the first two greens, but was unable to capitalize, missing both birdie putts. He had a good opportunity at birdie at No. 2, but missed to the left. Westwood ran into trouble on No. 3, finding the thick rough along the right. He had a chance to save par, but his putt lipped out. Westwood at 2-under and Henrik Stenson at 1-under are currently the only two players under par.

Ian Poulter is making a charge up the leaderboard and he's currently 5-under on the round. He was even through his first eight holes, but an eagle on No. 9 followed by three straight birdies on the 10th, 11th and 12th have moved him into a tie for third place. Poulter is even-par overall and is well ahead of the leaders on the course. If he's able to post a solid score, and the leaders struggle as the course dries out, Poulter could be a factor in the end.

Here is a quick look at the top of the leaderboard.
