Louis Oosthuizen, nursing back, neck, and hip injuries, withdrew from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, which starts Thursday, as well as next week’s PGA Championship.
The 2010 Open Championship winner, who had to quit both the U.S. and British Opens, will need two months of rest and strengthening before he can return to competition.
"It is obviously very disappointing to miss out on playing in such prestigious tournaments," Oosthuizen said in a statement, according to multiple reports. "But these are injuries that I have been managing for most of the season. It is important that I now give myself the proper time to recover."
Oosthuizen is targeting the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews in late September as his next start, according to Sky Sports.
