2013 PGA Championship purse: Payout for top finishers

Andrew Redington

Several notable names are still in contention at the PGA Championship and the winner will walk away with a $1.445 million first-place prize.

UPDATE: Jason Dufner claimed the Wanamaker Trophy and walked away with the first-place prize. Here is a complete look at the 2013 payout.

The field at the PGA Championship is competing for the Wanamaker Trophy and the final major championship of the year, but whoever comes away with the victory will also be rewarded handsomely. The 2013 PGA Championship has an $8 million purse, $1.445 million of which will go to the winner.

It won't just be the winner cashing in as each of the top-seven finishers will come away with at least a quarter of a million dollars. The top 18 finishers will earn at least $100,000, so even if players aren't contending for the Wanamaker Trophy, they can make, or lose thousands of dollars with just one good or bad hole.

Keegan Bradley added a couple of zeroes to his paycheck with an impressive final round. Bradley finished with a 4-under 66, jumping 21 spots up the leaderboard. Instead of a payout of less than $40,000, Bradley will likely collect a check worth more than $100,000.

The 2013 payout will be the same as last year. Here is a partial breakdown of the purse:

First place: $1,445,000
Second place: $865,000
Third place: $545,000
Fourth place: $385,000
Fifth place: $320,000
Sixth place: $288,000
Seventh place: $259,000
Eighth place: $235,000
Ninth place: $214,000
10th place: $196,000
11th place: $180,000
12th place: $165,500
13th place: $152,000
14th place: $140,000
15th place: $130,500
16th place: $121,500
17th place: $113,500
18th place: $106,500
19th place: $99,500
20th place: $93,000

Ties will ultimately factor into who earns what. If two players finished tied for ninth, the payout for ninth and 10th finishers would be combined with half going to each player.
