Bridgestone Invitational 2013: Tee times, pairings for Friday

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Bridgestone Invitational continues with the second round on Friday. Webb Simpson will open the round with the lead over an impressive field of golfers. Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson and a number of other notable players are among those in contention.

A day after shooting a 6-under par 64 in the first round, Webb Simpson will open the second round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational with the lead. Simpson will play Friday's round with Lee Westwood, who shot 1-over in the first round and is tied for 31st. The two will tee off at 1:40 p.m. ET.

Simpson, who hasn't won since claiming victory at the 2012 U.S. Open, holds a one-shot lead over Henrik Stenson going into the second round. Stenson will also begin his Friday round in the afternoon, teeing off from No. 10 at 1 p.m. with Ken Duke, who carded an even 70 to end Day 1 tied for 19th.

Tiger Woods is tied for third with three other players after shooting a 4-under 66 Thursday, and his second round will start at 1:10 p.m. Woods is paired with Hideki Matsuyama, who is tied for 41st at 2-over. The last two major championship winners will once again be paired on Friday when Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose tee off together at 9:50 a.m.

The Wold Golf Championship event will always bring out a stellar field, but the fact this week's event also serves as a tuneup for next week's PGA Championship means for even more notable pairings. Jason Day will play with Matt Kuchar on Friday while Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia are paired. Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald were both impressive on Thursday and they will be grouped once again on Friday.
