Tiger Woods goes for round of 59 on final 2 holes at WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

The No. 1 player in the world is trying to add another line to an incredible career resume, playing the round of his life at Firestone.

The "59 watch" at Firestone Country Club has turned into a "59 warning" as Tiger Woods needs two birdies on his last two holes to break 60. In a career full of record-breaking performances, Woods has never shot a round of 60. It appears that number is well within range, though, with the bigger prize joining the elite company of five golfers who have shot the golden number of 59.

The list of past players to break 60:

Stuart Appleby -- TPC Old White, 2010
Paul Goydos -- TPC Deere Run, 2010
David Duval -- PGA West Palmer Course, 1999
Chip Beck -- Sunrise GC, 1991
Al Geiberger -- Colonial CC (Memphis), 1977

The most recent serious run at 59 was put together by none other than Phil Mickelson, who had his putt on the 18th green dance on the edge of the cup at TPC Scottsdale earlier this season.

Tiger's return to No. 1 in the world has come largely through dominating the courses where he's most comfortable -- Torrey Pines, Doral, Bay Hill -- and the South Course at Firestone is another venue Tiger has owned. He's never played like this, though , moving perfect from tee-to-green and sinking absolutely everything.

His incredible front 9 was one burned edge away from breaking 30, but that was just the start of as he made the turn and canned four straight birdies to begin the back side. It was as impressive a stretch you'll see from arguably the best player in the history of the game.

Woods has "cooled" off a bit, relatively, with a missed fairway at No. 14 and three straight pars. The par at No. 16, the second of the two par-5s, could be the blow that ends his chance to score a 59.
