2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational scores: Tiger Woods dominates Round 2

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Woods came two strokes shy of tying a PGA Tour record, shooting a 61 on Friday to take a seven-stroke lead at Firestone Country Club.

Tiger Woods nearly made history on Friday during the second round of the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational. Woods shot a 61, good for 9-under par, pushing him to 13-under for the tournament and a commanding seven-stroke lead after 36 holes at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Only five golfers in the history of the PGA Tour have recorded a 59 in a single round, and for a while it seemed Woods would become the sixth. He was 9-under through 13 holes, but parred each of his final five holes.

Woods holds his seven-stroke lead over Keegan Bradley and Chris Wood, who both shot 68 on Friday and are 6-under through two rounds. First-round leader Webb Simpson, who shot a 6-under 64 on Thursday, was 5-over on Friday for a 75 and is currently tied for 16th place at 1-under.

Henrik Stenson shot an even-par 70 on Friday and is tied for fourth place at 5-under par with Bill Haas.
