Jim Furyk is the leader in the clubhouse while Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and others are now on the course.

The late groups are beginning to make their way around Oak Hill and everyone is chasing Jim Furyk at the PGA Championship. Furyk took advantage of prime scoring conditions to card a 5-under 65 on Thursday.

Furyk got off to a strong start with an opening birdie and was 6-under following a birdie on his 16th hole of the day. He had a chance to post a 64 heading into No. 9, his final hole, but Furyk drove the ball into the rough and missed a par putt for his first bogey.

Kohki Idoki is off to a good start in the afternoon with four birdies over his first five holes. The 51-year-old moved into a tie for second place with four consecutive birdies, as he chipped in from the rough on No. 5 to move to 4-under. Joost Luiten is also off to a good start, with three birdies in his first five holes.

Tiger Woods ran into some trouble late in his round. Woods found the rough on his approach shot on No. 18 and was unable to chip out. He went on to make a double bogey, finishing the first round at 1-over. Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy are among the notable names early in their rounds. McIlroy is 2-under through three holes, while Scott and Mickelson are even through two.
