Adam Scott contending at a major has become close to standard recently and once again he's off to a good start. Scott is 3-under on his round, two strokes off the lead.
He got off to a shaky start, but was able to save par on No. 1 and then do it again on No. 2. Following a par on No. 3, Scott got rolling beginning with the par-5 fourth hole. A birdie at No. 4 moved him into the red and he followed it up with birdies at the fifth and sixth to jump up the leaderboard. Scott has putted extremely well in the early going.
Justin Rose, who is playing with Scott and Phil Mickelson, is also in the red at 1-under through six holes. Mickelson hasn't been as fortunate as his playing partners. A double bogey at No. 4 dropped Mickelson to 3-over and eight strokes off Jim Furyk's lead.
Rory McIlroy birdied three of his first four holes, but dropped a stroke at No. 5 and is 2-under through seven holes. Here is a look at the top of the leaderboard and a few other notable names.
