Justin Rose is pretty good at celebrating a made putt. Our own Bill Hanstock rated Rose as smug back at Merion, when he flared his nostrils and gave a knowing nod upon a made putt in Sunday's final round:
Rose perfected the putting celebration last fall when he blindsided Phil Mickelson on Sunday at the Ryder Cup, draining a series of lengthy putts to start Europe's historic Sunday comeback. And given that he eventually went on to win at Merion, maybe he knows what he's doing and when he's headed to a good place.
That could mean trouble for the rest of the field, because Rose was back at it on Thursday at Oak Hill. This time, he went for putter PDA after a big make to get to 3-under and inside the top five:
And this would qualify as exuberant celebration in golf, where the NFL and its list of banned moves would be right at home.
