2014 Humana Golf Challenge: Patrick Reed pulling away, 27-under though 54 holes

Todd Warshaw

Patrick Reed made it three straight 63s and now has a commanding lead at the Humana Challenge.

It appears Patrick Reed doesn't have a preference when it comes to the three courses in the Humana Challenge. After shooting a 63 on the PGA West Palmer course on Thursday and a 63 at La Quinta Country Club on Friday, Reed shot a third straight 63 on Saturday, this time at the PGA West Nicklaus course.

Reed is now 27-under for the tournament and in the lead by seven strokes. His 27-under set a PGA Tour record for the lowest 54-hole score in relation to par, according to PGATour.com. A single 63 in a tournament would be excellent, but three straight is quite a run.

"It kind of seemed like deja vu all over again," Reed said, via PGATour.com. "When I played today, I felt just as confident as I did the last two days and the putter is still working."

For the second straight day, Reed's round included eight birdies, one eagle and one bogey. He started the round extremely well, notching three birdies and an eagle on his first seven holes. His lone dropped shot came on his 14th hole of the day, but he didn't miss a beat and birdied three of his final four holes. He needed to birdie his 18th hole of the day for the third straight 63 and did just that.

Charley Hoffman and Brendon Todd are each 20-under. Usually that would be good enough to lead, but this week it's only good enough for a second-place tie, seven strokes behind Reed. Justin Leonard and Keegan Bradley both played well on Saturday, carding 7-under 65s. Leonard is tied for fifth place at 18-under while Bradley is tied for 12th at 16-under.

Here is a complete look at the leaderboard through 54 holes:
