2014 Phoenix Open: Tee times, pairings for Friday's round

Robert Laberge

The schedule for Friday is slightly in flux do to darkness fallen before the end of the first round on Thursday, but we still have a good sense of when the field will be out at TPC Scottsdale.

The party at TPC Scottsdale really starts to hit full roar on Friday afternoon, when the denizens of the par-3 16th hole are fully hydrated at the start of their weekend. It's the start of the two rowdiest days of the season, when the players navigate a totally different, and positive atmosphere for the Tour (and also the largest crowds of the season).

But the Tour will have to wrap up the first round before we move on, as 10 players were stranded out on the course Thursday night when darkness fell before completion of the opening 18. Those players were already set to be out in the morning wave on Friday, but the unfinished first round means that all second round tee times are tentative at this point. We know the order, and the pairings, but the original schedule could be pushed back just a bit with the resumption of the first round bright and early.

Phil Mickelson, the headliner at this event, will be out in the afternoon stirring up the crowds at his second home. The ASU alum is the unquestionable fan favorite, and that he's giving it a go with a bad back probably adds to that this week. He's seven shots off the pace, but as we saw last year when he almost broke 60, he can make a big move in just a couple hours at this course. The defending champ said he would need to just get a "hot round" going on Friday to get back in it, and his health appears good enough to pull that off on a layout where he's comfortable.

Mickelson was originally scheduled to go off No. 1 with Ryan Moore and Bill Haas at 2:25 p.m. ET, so he should be arriving at No. 16 when everyone is well and drunk. They'll be the featured group of Golf Channel's afternoon coverage, while 18-hole co-leader Bubba Watson will be out in the morning before the broadcast.

Here's a tentative schedule of tee times for Friday. We'll update if this is pushed back due to the 10 players finishing up the first round at the start of the day. (All times ET)

UPDATE: The first round will resume at 10 a.m. ET, an the second round will go off as scheduled.
