2014 Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Jimmy Walker takes big lead, play halted again Saturday

Christian Petersen

Jimmy Walker was among those who finished on Saturday at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and he holds a significant six-shot advantage. Play was halted due to gusting winds.

The third round of the 2014 Pebble Beach Pro-Am isn't quite in the books, as another weather delay forced play to a halt on Saturday. After continuing through heavy wind, play was eventually suspended due to darkness, as opposed to the rain that got in the way on Thursday. Fortunately, most of the competitors got through their days, and the leaderboard isn't likely to see any shakeups based on the remainder to be played on Sunday.

Jordan Spieth, who finished Friday's second round tied with Jimmy Walker for the lead, was among those who did not get to finish their rounds. Spieth struggled mightily when he was playing, though, and was a whopping 5-over-par for the round when the conditions halted his day at the 15th hole. He's now tentatively tied for 11th place at 4-under for the tournament.

Walker, however, enjoyed another strong day and finished with sole possession of first place at 13-under. He carded five birdies in 30 mph gusts at Monterey Peninsula to give him a six-shot lead. Behind him on the leaderboard are Tim Wilkinson and Hunter Mahan, who share a second-place tie at 7-under after shooting 69 and 72 in the third round, respectively. Walker shot 4-under on Saturday to go along with a 6-under on Thursday and a 3-under on Friday.

Andrew Loupe and Steven Bowditch were in good position after two rounds. However, they both experienced significant struggles on Saturday which led to significant drops down the leaderboard. Loupe shot 4-over and is tied for 18th place, while Bowditch shot 3-over and is tied for 31st with seven others.
