2014 Honda Classic: Tee times, pairings for Sunday's round

Stuart Franklin

Rory McIlroy will begin Sunday in the lead, can he hold on for his first PGA Tour win since 2012?

It's been 18 months since Rory McIlroy won a PGA Tour event, but he'll have a chance to end that drought on Sunday at the Honda Classic. McIlroy held the lead at the end of each round and will open play on Sunday with a two-stroke advantage.

Although he hasn't been able to duplicate his opening-round 63, McIlroy was solid in the second and third rounds. He shot a 1-under 69 on Saturday, dropping him to 12-under for the tournament. It's a stark contrast from a year ago when McIlroy withdrew from the event after 27 holes when he was well off the pace to make the cut. Twelve months later, McIlroy's game is in much better form and he's primed for his first PGA Tour win since 2012. McIlroy famously lost the 54-hole lead at the 2011 Masters, starting the day with a four-stroke lead only to finish 10 strokes off the winning score. Since then, however, he's had success as the third-round leader, hanging on for victory in all three instances.

"I learned a lot from it and that's the reason that every 54-hole lead that I've had since I've been able to close the deal," McIlroy said of his 2011 Masters experience, via PGATour.com. "Hopefully I can keep that run going tomorrow."

McIlroy will be back in the final group on Sunday, joined by Russell Henley. The 24-year-old shot a 2-under 68 on Saturday to move into second place at 10-under. His round included a bit of good fortune when he one-hopped wedge from 150 yards into the hole for an eagle.

The final pairing is scheduled to tee off at 1:40 p.m. ET, so their entire round will occur during the television broadcast, which is scheduled to run from 1 to 6 p.m. Russell Knox and Jhonattan Vegas will tee off in the second-to-last group. Knox will begin the round at 9-under while Vegas is in fourth place at 8-under. A few other notable names are in contention including Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald. Both are tied for fifth place at 7-under. Bradley will play with Stuart Appleby while Donald will be paired with Ryan Palmer.

Tiger Woods worked his way up the leaderboard with a 5-under 65 in the third round. At 5-under to begin the day, he'll need another similar, if not better round, just to have a shot at contending. He''ll play with Luke Guthrie on Sunday and the two are scheduled to tee off at 12:23 p.m.

Here is a complete look at the final round tee sheet. All times Eastern.
