WGC-Cadillac Championship 2014: Tee times, pairings for Saturday's round

Jamie Squire

The Blue Monster at Doral got the better of the world's best on Friday. Will they get even on Saturday?

Following a brutal Friday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, the best players in the world will be back at it on Saturday, attempting to navigate the U.S. Open-level conditions. Only four players will begin the day in the red with Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan tied for the lead at 1-under.

The remodeled course layout and firm greens would be challenge enough, but with high winds added in, there is no question the course had the upper hand during the first two rounds. Conditions were especially difficult on Friday with only three players in the field carding an under-par round. The players combined to record 108 double bogeys in the second round, an astonishing number for an event with a high-level field like the WGC. The four players under par through 36 holes are the fewest in a non-major event in the last 10 years, according to Justin Ray of ESPN.

With it being a WGC event, there was no cut, so the entire field will be back on the course on Saturday. Some may have preferred there were a cut. Dawie van der Walt may have been one of them, as he failed to break 80 during the first two rounds and is 20-over.

Although there was no cut, the field will play in pairings of two -- instead of three -- on Saturday. Reed and Johnson will be paired in the final group, set to tee off at 1:45 p.m. ET. They'll hit the course one group after Kuchar and Mahan. Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell will both begin the day one stroke off the lead. McDowell will play with Francesco Molinari while McIlroy will play with Jamie Donaldson. Bubba Watson and Zach Johnson are set to tee off at 1:05 p.m. and should form an interesting pairing. Both players are 1-over through two rounds.

Tiger Woods will begin the third round six strokes off the lead. The No. 1 player in the world will be paired with the No. 3 player in the world, Henrik Stenson. Stenson is also 5-over through 36 holes. Here is a full look at the third round tee times. All times Eastern.
