The Memorial Tournament 2014: Tee times, pairings for Saturday's round

Sam Greenwood

Rory McIlroy appeared on his way for a weekend final pairing on Thursday. Instead, he'll tee off in the early afternoon with Paul Casey and Bubba Watson set for the final group.

Muirfield Village yielded more than its share of birdies during the first two days of the Memorial Tournament and while red numbers were certainly available, players who ran into trouble paid a harsh price. Hitting the fairways has been key and minimizing mistakes -- or the failure to do so -- went a long way in shaping the Saturday pairings.

Rory McIlory opened the second round with a three-stroke lead after shooting a 9-under 63 on Thursday. He wasn't able to replicate the success from the first round and instead ran into major issues. He hit balls off trees, into water hazards and even double-hit a bunker shot. With Muirfield getting the better of him on Friday, his 6-over 78 dropped him nine strokes off the lead. As a result, he'll not only not be in the final pairing, but he'll tee off well before noon. McIlroy is set to tee off at 11:25 a.m. ET and will play with Jason Day. McIlroy and Day should be familiar with one-another, having been partnered during the first two rounds. There are several notable players scheduled to begin their rounds around that time. Phil Mickelson will tee off at 10:27 a.m. while the pairing of Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson will tee off one group after McIlroy and Day at 11:35 a.m.

With others dropping off, Paul Casey surged to the top of the leaderboard at 12-under. He shot a 66 in both rounds, carding six birdies, an eagle, two bogeys and nine pars in each round. He'll be joined in the final pairing by reigning Masters champion Bubba Watson. Watson sits at 9-under, three off the lead. He was one shot behind late in his second round, but finished the day with back-to-back bogeys to drop back to 9-under.

Television coverage is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Golf Channel. CBS will pick up coverage at 3 p.m., following a 30-minute blackout. Even with the small window of non-coverage, the coverage will allow viewers to watch nearly all of the afternoon wave play their entire third rounds.
