St. Jude Classic 2014: Tee times, TV schedule, streaming for Thursday's round

Andy Lyons

The focus will shift to the U.S. Open next week, but before then, the PGA Tour heads to Memphis for the St. Jude Classic.

The final warmup before the U.S. Open next week has arrived with the St. Jude Classic from TPC Southwind. While players will be focused on the week at hand, the U.S. Open will likely still be in some minds. For some, the St. Jude is a final warmup and a chance to get into peak form before heading to Pinehurst. For others, the event may be their final shot at qualifying for the U.S. Open.

A total of 74 players have safely punched their ticket for the U.S. Open, leaving more than 80 spots still up for grabs. Sectional qualifying next week will fill many of those spots, and the St. Jude Classic could have an impact as well. Players who are in the top 60 in the Official World Golf Rankings on June 9 will qualify for the U.S. Open. With a second-place finish last week, Kevin Na jumped 30 spots in the rankings. This shows just how much is on the line this week for players currently on the outside looking in.

For those players already qualified the first round of the St. Jude on Thursday is the start of their final warmup. Phil Mickelson -- who will take another run at completing the career grand slam next week -- said he's heading into Thursday trying to play four good rounds to build some momentum.

Mickelson won't have to wait long to hit the course on Thursday, as he'll be one of the first groups off. He's scheduled to tee off at 8:40 a.m. ET, playing with Harris English and Scott Stallings. The field at the St. Jude isn't nearly as strong as last week at the Memorial, but there are a few notable pairings. Dustin Johnson will play with Patrick Reed and Webb Simpson while Zach Johnson will play with Ian Poulter and Justin Leonard.

Television and online coverage will be somewhat limited during the first round with Golf Channel broadcasting live from 3-6 p.m. The live coverage can also be watched online via a stream from Golf LiveExtra. Johnson, Poulter and Leonard are among the groups set to tee off in the afternoon and should be approaching the turn when live coverage begins.

PGA Tour Radio on Sirius-XM will provide live radio coverage from noon to 6 p.m. Here is a complete look at the first-round coverage and tee sheet for Thursday.
