Pranksters are cutting the ropes at the British Open, and Bubba Watson is not happy

It's not hard to irk Bubba Watson, and he's not been happy with the crowd control on Thursday at Hoylake. Is a prankster cutting the crowd control ropes to blame?

While British golf fans often consider themselves more refined and respectful than most, it appears that there is a prankster on the loose at the Open at Royal Liverpool. It appears someone has been going around cutting the ropes that keep the fans off the course, and some mild crowd chaos has ensued.

This is noteworthy for two reasons. First, I am surprised this hasn't happened before. It seems like an easy thing to do and scissor usually beats rope.

The second reason is that Bubba Watson, who is often distracted, appeared to come unglued after fans began pouring into the playing areas.

The "thousands of people" in the fairway led to some big numbers for Bubba. Although he has righted the ship somewhat, it clearly affected him for several holes. Midway through the round, it was looking like he might withdraw, due to frustration and disinterest. But he's rallied a little bit coming down the stretch to mitigate the trouble and avoid an all-out disaster.
