#Hot Corner

Apropos of Nothing, Vol. I

A new Hot Corner series, in which you are presented with something you might not have thought about for a while. A future Apropos of Nothing might include the words "Chad Fox" and nothing else. But for the initial entry, here's one of my favorite stat lines ever. Mike Hampton's 2001 batting line:

Year Tm PA AB R H 2B HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+
2001 COL 86 79 20 23 2 7 16 2 21 .291 .309 .582 .891 105

Is the best part that it's a .291/.309/.582 line from a pitcher? Or is it that an .891 OPS was only good enough for a 105 OPS+ in 2001 Coors Field? I can't decide. But I can't stop staring at those stats, man.
