Oh, Marlins. You are in a bad way. Ever since looking up their attendance for the 1997 season -- fifth in the National League, just ahead of the Cubs -- I've been feeling sad about their plight. And then, by way of Getting Blanked, we have the Marlinsest news of the month: Their entire prospect-laden outfield in Double-A is on the disabled list:
Double-A Jacksonville was projected to have one of the best starting outfields in the minor leagues with Christian Yelich, Jake Marisnick and Marcell Ozuna. The Suns will feature those three at some point, just not when the season starts Thursday.
Yelich (plantar fasciitis) will join Marisnick and Ozuna on the disabled list. Whereas Yelich should be ready within the next two weeks, Marisnick and Ozuna likely will be sidelined all of April with hand fractures.
Also of note: The Marlins should probably cut the punch-a-damned-wall-in-its-stupid-wall-face portion out of their spring-training routines. Until then ... ouch, Marlins. Ouch.
