Monday night -- well, Monday night and Tuesday morning -- Josh Hamilton's lousy April got a whole lot lousier.
Hamilton batted nine times. Here's what happened those nine times, with Hamilton's hits and walks in bold-face:
1. Struck out
2. Flied out
3. Flied out
4. Fouled out
5. Struck out
6. Flied out
7. Struck out
8. Grounded out
9. Flied out
Oh. No hits. No walks. One of those fly-outs did drive home a runner from third, so there's that.
Hey, it could have been worse. Hamilton went 0 for 8 with a sacrifice fly. A couple of years ago, Martin Prado went 0 for 9 in this game. Rafael Palmeiro once went 0 for 9. So did Trot Nixon, and Andre Thornton. Bad games happen to good players.
What's worrisome is that Josh Hamilton hasn't really looked like a good player this month. Even before his 0 for 8, Hamilton was batting .219 with five extra-base hits and five walks.
