CarGo knows throwing guys out from the warning track

USA TODAY Sports

I'm old. So when I saw this dramatic video ...

... the first thing I thought of was Bo Jackson, who famously threw out Harold Reynolds from roughly the same spot almost 25 years ago. I say roughly because we don't actually have any footage that shows where Jackson was when he unleashed his throw.

We do know that it was only 314 feet down the left-field line in Seattle's Kingdome, as opposed to 347 feet at Coors Field. Balancing that: Harold Reynolds was a lot faster than Michael Young. Also, Gonzalez's throw presumably got a boost from Denver's altitude that Jackson didn't in sea-level Seattle. And Gonzalez's throw bounced twice, while Bo's carried all the way to Bob Boone on the fly.

However you figure these things, though, Gonzalez's throw was terribly impressive. And I think this only reinforces my theory that Bo Jackson's throw is legendary, at least in part, because we can't actually see it.
