Ruth, Aaron, and fictional descendants

Did you ever wonder what happened to the progeny of history's greatest home run hitters? Sure, you could check Wikipedia or some other "legitimate" source to find out the life stories of the junior Ruths and Aarons, but that wouldn't be any fun.

Instead, we'll look to the Matt Groening cartoon universe for our "facts." They're bound to be more exciting that way, right?

Here's Babe Ruth IV, the "illegitimate great-grand Bambino."

While playing for the Springfield Isotopes, Ruth called his shot with two outs in the ninth -- a bunt down the first base line! He was tagged out a few seconds later.

And then there's Hank Aaron XXIV.

By the year 3002, Aaron was already enshrined in the Blernsball Hall of Fame as the "Worst Player in Blernsball History." When he lost that title to Turanga Leela, he was able to take solace in the fact that he was still the "Worst Player in Football History."

On Wednesday, Groening's "Futurama" finished its 10th and final season on the air. "The Simpsons," meanwhile, is about to begin its 25th season on the air. Does this mean we'll finally get a glimpse at Barry Bonds XIV? I can't wait!
