The next phase of four-time IndyCar champion Sebastien Bourdais's career -- at KV Racing -- will be powered by Mistic E-Cigarettes the team announced on Tuesday.
Bourdais will pilot the No. 11 entry next season that was recently vacated by Tony Kanaan, the defending winner of the Indianapolis 500. The team also released a livery (paint scheme) for the car, called the "Mistic Machine" which will compete in seven race weekends during the season.
Bourdais won four straight championships in the Champ Car World Series from 2004-2007 and has 31 race wins over his career. But it's been a struggle for Bourdais in the IndyCar Series following the open-wheel merger but the entirety of that time has been spent with underfunded Dale Coyne Racing and Jay Penske's Dragon Racing organization.
He experienced a breakout season this year, scoring his first three podiums and finishing 12th in the championship standings and looking like a perennial contender in the second half of the season.
"I am very excited to be representing Mistic E-Cigs as I enter a new chapter of my career with KVSH Racing," Bourdais said in the release. "Health is very important to me and I'm proud to be associated with a company that is looking to reduce the risks of tobacco smoking."
Mistic has plans to heavily activate their relationship with KV and Bourdais, making the E-Cigs available at most IndyCar events next season, while the company also plans to promote the new paint scheme and driver at Circle K stores throughout the country where their product is sold.
"Partnering with KVSH Racing is a strategic fit for the Mistic brand, providing us with a fun and exciting platform to reach millions of IndyCar fans," John Wiesehan Jr., Mistic CEO said "As race fans ourselves, we are looking forward to the 2014-2015 season, not only to cheer for the team's new driver, Sebastien Bourdais, but to further leverage our relationship with KVSH Racing as we roll out offers and promotions that educate IndyCar fans on alternatives such as our electronic cigarettes."
