A pair of top-10s this weekend, including a runner-up on Sunday afternoon allowed Helio Castroneves to maintain his IndyCar Series championship lead following the two races at Exhibition Place on the streets of Toronto.
But as a result of sweeping both races this weekend, Scott Dixon has become Castroneves' closest pursuer and has surged from fifth in the standings to second and just 29 points out of the lead with only six races remaining.
While Dixon has surged over the past two weekends, defending IndyCar Series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay has lost considerable ground, falling to third and 69 points out of the top spot.
The drop has been aided by crashes over the past three races, dating back to Pocono and continuing with two more accidents this weekend in Toronto. His teammate, Marco Andretti remains in fourth and is 70 points behind Castroneves.
With only a handful of races left, it appears the championship will come down to one of these four contenders, barring a remarkable string of victories by a team outside of the top-four.
