Designer

SB Nation is the largest and fastest-growing network of fan-centric online sports communities. We develop the highest quality content, conversations, and applications for an audience of nearly 9 million passionate fans around the world. After three years of steady growth, we're a well-funded company, supported by the same folks who invested in Facebook and Etsy, with business expertise to go with our editorial and technology foundation.

We're seeking an outstanding designer. You’ll join our small product team to help drive our development cycle through wire-framing, prototyping, interface design, and visual refinement of new and existing products; plus a variety of creative tasks. Primarily you’ll be working with the creative director and product manager to design beautiful, usable websites for our communities and users.

You’re a friendly, creative problem-solver who is passionate about developing elegant interfaces and designing user experiences. Specifically, you:

• Have an excellent understanding of composition, page layout and typography
• Have expert skills in Illustrator, Photoshop and Fireworks CS4
• Are organized and detail-oriented
• Feel comfortable receiving and giving constructive design feedback
• Have experience designing interfaces for complex web applications
• Are confident and comfortable working with HTML and CSS
• Love collaboration and rapid iteration
• Keep up with design trends in blogs, web apps and social/online media

Ideally, you also:

• Have extensive experience with print design and Adobe Flash
• Advanced knowledge of HTML/CSS and browser-compatibility challenges
• Are comfortable in the fast and fun work environment of a tech/media startup
• Have experience designing mobile interfaces and applications
• Are committed to user-centered design, web standards, usability and accessibility
• Do interesting things when you're not working

Other bonuses:

• Experience working on small development teams and with remote team members
• Passion for photography, drawing/painting, or other physical media
• More involved development or programming experience
• Experience in sports media, passionate fan of sports or actively play sports yourself
