Real Madrid vs. Celta Vigo: Final score 2-0, hobbled Blancos do enough for three points

Real Madrid were not at their best on Saturday, but were good enough to beat Celta Vigo 2-0 at the Bernabeu.

With a trip to Dortmund lingering and a number of players battling injury, Real Madrid did not have a full squad at their disposal, nor did the players who made the starting XI play their best. They didn't exactly need their best to beat Celta Vigo at home, however, and comfortably ran out 2-0 winners.

Gonzalo Higuain scored one of the best goals of the year if he meant his strike, but it's more likely that he got extremely lucky with an errant cross when he scored in the 11th minute. He drifted out to the left and appeared to be looking for a back post cross, but his ball sailed over Sergio Álvarez, then into the back of the net at the far post for a spectacular goal. The rest of the first half was fairly uneventful, with Cristiano Ronaldo missing a few chances, including a crossbar hit in the 38th minute.

Celta Vigo kept things competitive for a bit and dodged a bullet with another Ronaldo miss from close range early in the half, but the game was put to bed when Gustavo Cabral brought down Mesut Özil in the penalty box after 66 minutes. Ronaldo stepped up and didn't miss from the spot, sealing Madrid's 2-0 victory.
