Olympic track and field star Lolo Jones is looking for a man. She has discussed this search openly on "HBO's Real Sports," but before she can find one, there's something else she needs to do. "Bomani & Jones" is here to help.
The Olympics are still a couple of months away, but hurdler Lolo Jones managed to steal headlines with her revelation that, at age 29, she remains a virgin. That was quite a shock to those who made assumptions based on her stunning looks, her age, and the fact that it's the 21st century.
Many hailed her strength. Others took that stand, coupled it with her self-deprecating tendency to joke about being single in interviews and on Twitter, and rallied around her. Buzzfeed calls her "the Olympian version of Liz Lemon," Tina Fey's character on 30 Rock. The way Jones handles it all endeared her to Buzzfeed's Kate Notopolous.
Did it endear her to me? Well, sorta. Not because I care that she's a virgin or single. No, it made me want to give Lolo a hug because she's scaring all the men away. It's not the chastity scaring dudes away. It's something else, and that something can be found in her tweets.
Don't believe me? The new "Bomani & Jones" will make that clear. 'Cause somebody's gotta tell Lolo the truth, and I guess it'll just have to be me.
