The men's 100m breast finals took place on the second day of qualifying during the 2012 Olympic Trials. Brendan Hansen was the favorite in the event, finishing up in first place with a time of 59.68. Hansen finished fourth in Beijing in the men's 100m breast in 2008 and will now head back to the Olympics for the third time and gets to face off with his rival, Japan's Kosuke Kitajima.
In second place in the race was Eric Shanteau with a time of 1:00.15, qualifying for the men's team and making it back to the Olympics.
It looked as if NCAA champion swimmer, 6'6 Kevin Cordes was going to take first place, taking a massive early lead. After the turn however, Cordes fell back and finished up in third place just missing the cut.
