The Basketball Arena's striking aesthetics make it one of the standout venues of the 2012 London Olympics.
Location: Within the Olympic Park in Stratford
Events: Basketball, Handball
Construction: Begun in 2009, completed in 2011.
Seats: 12,000 for Olympic basketball and Handball semi-finals and finals
The Basketball Arena in Olympic Park, which will be home to the Olympic basketball and handball tournaments, is one of the most visually striking venues of the 2012 London Olympics, thanks in part to its unique construction.
The venue's frame is made up of 1,000 tonnes of steel and is covered in 20,000 square metres of a recyclable white PVC fabric that will form the canvas for spectacular lighting displays during the Games.

12,000 orange and black seats inside the Arena will be filled with fans throughout the Games, with both the Basketball and Handball tournaments lasting from July 28 to Aug. 12.
After the Olympics, the Arena will be taken down, with parts to be reused elsewhere.
