The first major medal event in gymnastics at the 2012 London Olympics will take place Monday with the men's team event going down at 11:30 a.m ET. The event will be streamed here live, but won't air on TV until primetime for NBC's network coverage.
Eight countries will square off in the team event: the United States, host country Great Britain, Russia, China, Japan, France, Ukraine and Germany. Six of these teams competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with Great Britain and Ukraine taking the spots of South Korea and Romania.
China is the reigning gold medalist, but you have to figure this year is bound to be a little different considering they're no longer the host country. The U.S. team, led this year by Jonathan Horton, has never won a gold medal in a non-boycotted games, but after China and Japan faltered in the preliminaries, the U.S. took a surprising first place, and could move up the podium past bronze, what many figured was their highest feasible finish.
It should be a riveting event, and USA has to be feeling confident after finishing first.
