Ukraine captured a gold medal in the women's quadruple sculls at the London 2012 Olympics on Wednesday.

Ukraine has comfortably and dominantly captured a gold medal in rowing, blowing away the field at the final of the women's quadruple sculls. Shortly after Great Britain captured its first gold medal of the Olympics, the crowd was ready to explode again for another British medal, but the British quartet struggled and was left far behind the rest of the field in sixth place.

Germany easily took second place to capture the silver medal, while the United States kept themselves ahead of Australia to grab a bronze medal. The Ukrainian team took a very comfortable lead in the opening 500 meters of the race and had no problem hanging onto that large lead until the very end of the race. It captured its gold medal in a time of 6:35.93, while Germany came in at 6:38.09 and the United States finished in 6:40.63.
