The United States routed another opponent, this time the Czech Republic, 88-61. Augustus had five points and two steals in under 18 minutes of play. Team USA is 4-0; Their average margin of victory so far is over 33 points.
Edward Gal, Netherlands, Equestrian
Gal did well on a tough second day of Dressage, finishing 11th overall with his horse, Undercover, in the first round of the Grand Prix. His score of 75.395 is just over eight points behind the leader. Both he and Carl Hester (now ranked No. 5) have qualified for the next round. With Gal's performance and that of teammate Adelinde Cornelissen, the Netherlands vaulted to third overall in the team category, behind Great Britain and Germany.
Alexandra Lacrebere, France, Handball
The French beat Korea, 24-21, to guarantee themselves a top spot in the playoffs. Lacrebere lead the team in scoring with four goals on nine shots.
Lisa Raymond, USA, Tennis
Raymond and partner Liezel Huber lost their semifinal match, 6-1, 7-6(2). They will play for the bronze medal. Raymond and Huber were the No. 1 seed in the tournament, losing to fourth-seeded Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
Sweden Women's Soccer - Lisa Dahlkvist, Jessica Landstrom, Hedvig Lindahl
The lesbians of Swedish soccer are done. They lost to France, 2-1, in the quarterfinals after leading early, 1-0. Dahlkvist took one shot on goal. It was Sweden's first loss at the Games, after posting a victory and two ties.
