The Knicks cut J.R. Smith's brother, J.R. Smith takes to Instagram

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

1. In October, the Knicks signed Chris Smith, J.R. Smith's younger brother who has J.R.'s face tattooed on his back, out of training camp even though he had performed poorly with their Summer League team for the second consecutive year, and even though several other camp invites appeared far more deserving. The signing was widely suspected to be part of a "package deal"-- a condition of J.R.'s re-signing with the Knicks in July-- to the point that the league actually investigated the matter.

2. On Monday, the Knicks cut Chris Smith (career numbers: 2 minutes, 0 numbers of any kind, one productive stint in the D-League) to make room for the signing of Jeremy Tyler.

3. Later on Monday, J.R. Smith posted this quote from Casino on Instagram:

The Knicks!
