Giancarlo Stanton crushes a ball, for a strike

SB Nation

Stanton has 10 home runs in 50 games for the Marlins this season, and he nearly hit another one on Sunday.

In the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday in Miami, Giancarlo Stanton tried to break a 2-2 tie with the Nationals with one of his patented long balls into the upper deck, this time against Washington relief pitcher Tyler Clippard.

But unfortunately for Stanton and the Marlins, it was a foul ball, and Stanton eventually struck out.
