Cristiano Ronaldo fan storms pitch, gets really intimate with Cristiano Ronaldo

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

A surprisingly tender exchange between two guys wearing the same shirt.

It was nice of Cristiano Ronaldo to be so patient and gentle with the fan who stormed the pitch of Wednesday's Chelsea-Real Madrid match.

Ronaldo welcomed the embrace, paid attention to whatever sweet nothings the guy was whispering in his ear, and even gave a goodbye hug:

On the other hand, it may serve to set a troublesome precedent wherein the zany field-storming set will expect a warm response when they accost working professional athletes. Oh well. Still a strangely nice moment.

MEANWHILE ... moments after the interaction, Ronaldo attempted a free kick, only to launch the ball backward and fall flat on his face. The fan, while walking home from the match, kicked a stray soda can and watched it fly 100 miles per hour through an open window. OH NOOOOOOOOO
