UVA lineman tracks down CB after 100-plus yard return, Oregon scores anyway

Let's give it to Steven Whitmire for never saying die, even as his team failed massively around him.

Dior Mathis had an incredible runback for Oregon on an interception, almost going from the back of his own end zone to paydirt, but the star of the show somehow ended up being a Virginia offensive lineman.

Mathis took David Watford's overthrow nearly the length of the field, but Virginia's Jay Whitmire -- trailing 45-10 -- never gave up on the play and eventually corralled Mathis all the way at the other end of the field.

Let's ignore the fact that Mathis made everybody else on their team look extremely silly. Let's give it up to Whitmire for his never-say-die attitude.

Let's also ignore the fact that freshman RB Thomas Tyner scored on the very next play, the first of his career.
