You might remember Tom Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots. You also might remember that on our fair website, Jon Bois made him into a folk hero named Touchdown Tom, who is never to be counted out.
Unfortunately, it is officially time to count out Touchdown Tom: the Patriots lost to the Broncos in the AFC Championship game. In fact, Brady said he won't even watch the Super Bowl.
However, as Deadspin found, one doctor asked to do a quick spot on healthy Super Bowl eating is in denial:
This is Dr. Shukri David on Detroit's FOX 2. What's weird is that he clearly knows something about football -- that Tom Brady is the QB of the Patriots and went to Michigan, Peyton Manning is the QB of the Broncos, etc. -- but has NO CLUE that the Pats lost two weeks ago and won't be playing in the Super Bowl. The anchor awkwardly tries to help him out by bringing up the fact that the Broncos and Seahawks are in the Super Bowl, but he actually looks her in the eye and corrects her -- "no, not Peyton Manning! They're out!" -- leaving her to finish the segment with a "Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks... yeah..."
Never count out Touchdown Tom.
