Whoops! Referee sends off wrong black Arsenal player after handball

He even ignored the right player fessing up.

Arsenal is having a no-good, very bad morning against Chelsea, going down 3-0 inside the first half-hour. But match official Andre Marriner ain't going to enjoy the aftermath to this one either.

As Chelsea's Eden Hazard threatened, Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made a pretty good save ... with his hand. Which is, unfortunately, illegal.

It was pretty obviously Oxlade-Chamberlain who made the violation, worthy of an instant red card. But Marriner instead sent off Gunner back Kieran Gibbs.

This is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

This is Kieran Gibbs.

Pretty different looking chaps with one obvious similarity a veteran referee should be able to see through.

This Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain telling the ref that it was he, not Gibbs, who saved the shot.

They wear different numbers, have different faces and bodies and even have their names on their backs! No matter, Marriner had made up his mind. Gibbs would be punished. And now, as soon as this match closes, one imagines Marriner will be punished, if not by the Premier League than by hordes of cackling fans.
