North Korea's new sports drink is made of fungus

Move over Florida, Pyongyang University is coming for your crown!

After a workout or a good session at the gym, you probably reach for a Gatorade. We could wax poetically for hours about the best flavor (it's lime), but North Korea has created a new sports beverage we can all believe in: FUNGUSADE.

The drink comes to us from KCNA Watch and it seems the nation is pretty excited about its newest invention.

Researchers at the Microbiological Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences developed a new mushroom drink.

They succeeded in finding the way to cultivate mushroom fungus and made a functional drink. This natural drink is very effective in enhancing physical ability of sportspersons and recovering from their fatigues.

When the word "functional" is used to describe a food or beverage there's about a 100 percent chance it's code for "OH GOD WHY AM I CONSUMING THIS?! WHY?! IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME DRINK THIS AGAIN. OH GOD. IT TASTES LIKE POND SCUM."

At least we have a pretty good ad campaign lined up for North Korea.
