The Cavs called Andrew Wiggins by his dad's name at his introductory press conference

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Even when a Cleveland Sports Thing goes right, they have to do something to mess it up.

Andrew Wiggins is one of the most hyped basketball prospects in a long time, a Canadian-born stud out of the University of Kansas, a player the Cleveland Cavaliers should consider themselves very lucky to draft after having just a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery. He's a potential franchise player. So this is not the optimal way to introduce him:

WE'RE SO EXCITED TO HAVE YOU -- wait, wait, what's your name again? At least Cavs broadcaster Fred MacLeod covers his tracks nicely by stuttering for about 17 seconds before making a joke about Mitchell -- Andrew's dad, who played parts of 6 seasons in the NBA, mainly as a role player, in the 1980's and early 1990's -- potentially making a comeback.
