Pull up a chair, youngster. When I was a boy growing up in New Jersey, before websites and blogs and tweets, sports trades big and small were rounded up for me in the New York Times "Transactions" sidebar in the middle of the sports section, below the standings. So I find it pretty cool to see the Times devote the entire front page of their Saturday sports section to a tiny, understated bit of text like that. Nostalgic.
It's also a tremendous waste of space and kind of impossible to see on the computer, but I get it, and I like it. Cheeky move for one of the biggest sports stories of the year (John Salmons getting waived).
