Everything surrounding the shutdown of UAB's football program has been ridiculous, and the now-former players are the ones most ripped off by the situation.
On Saturday, one of these former players, Derek Slaughter, staged a bit of a silent protest at graduation by wearing his helmet as he accepted his diploma (and refusing to shake the very unpopular school president's hand).
