Jon Dorenbos is a very good NFL long snapper. He's been in the league 14 seasons and is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
He's an even better magician.
Dorenbos put his skills on display on America's Got Talent and it was quite a show. He piled card trick after card trick in quick succession, leaving the audience and judges baffled by what he just pulled off. He used every single card in the deck, too, in the exact order he wanted. That included a card he folded up at the beginning which later became the exclamation point on his trick.
He is no one-trick pony, either. Dorenbos spends his NFL offseasons touring and doing magic and comedy shows. Without having polled every NFL player, I think we're safe to assume Dorenbos is by far the best magician in the NFL. The only surprise is that Chip Kelly didn't utilize these magic skills somehow and run a hidden ball trick.
Dorenbos' magic skills have some meaning, too. When he was 12 years old, his father was convicted for murdering his mother and sentenced to 13 years in prison. Dorenbos turned to magic to help fill the void of sadness.
"(Magic) was something that, at the darkest time of my life, was genuinely fun for me," Dorenbos said when he appeared on HBO's Real Sports. "It saved me, man. It really did."
