The writing's been on the wall for a while, but Monday morning, it all became official - the Mets are ditching both general manager Omar Minaya and field manager Jerry Manuel.
Seeking to distance themselves from the disappointments of recent seasons, the Mets announced on Monday that they removed Omar Minaya from his post as general manager and declined to exercise their one-year option on manager Jerry Manuel's contract.
The team has scheduled a 1:30pm ET press conference to discuss its decision, and the journalists present have surely had weeks, if not months, to prepare their lines of questions.
Up next, the Mets will interview various candidates and hire a new GM, who will then interview various candidates and hire a new manager.
