Twins Vs. Yankees, ALDS Game 2: Jon Rauch Comes Up Big, Escapes Major Jam

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Yankees were able to take the lead back in the top of the seventh, but it could have been a lot worse were it not for the stellar work of reliever Jon Rauch. After Jose Mijares loaded the bases with one out in relief of Carl Pavano, Rauch came in and struck out Alex Rodriguez on four pitches before getting Robinson Cano to pop out to second to end the threat. Rauch kept the score at 4-2, and though the odds are against the Twins, they're still alive, when they easily could've been done in by one more base hit.
